# Autocomplete API — Vietmap API Playground

> Search for places with Vietmap Autocomplete API.

The Autocomplete API suggests places while the user types: shops, buildings, house numbers, streets. Results can favour the current location (focus), stay within a province, district or ward under both the post-merger and the former boundaries, within a radius, or within POI categories. display_type returns addresses in the new format, the old one, or both.

What it is for:
- Delivery address search in e-commerce checkouts.
- Pick-up and drop-off search in ride-hailing apps.
- Finding the nearest branch or store.
- Cleaning up hand-typed addresses in a CRM.

- API key: every request needs the `apikey` parameter. Samples use `YOUR_API_KEY` as the placeholder — when integrating, read the key from an environment variable (e.g. `VIETMAP_API_KEY`). Get a key at https://maps.vietmap.vn/console-v2/consumers
- Error codes: `401` wrong API key · `403` key restricted to another domain/IP · `423` API not enabled for the key's consumer, or out of credit (body contains "exceeded credit") · `429` rate limit exceeded.
